Job Overview
Location: Burlington, Ontario
Structure: Two-storey house with steep roof
Problem: Nocturnal attic activity consistent with raccoon presence
Service: Raccoon removal
Visits: 2
Summary
Our team completed a two-visit raccoon removal at a residential property in Burlington after the homeowner reported nighttime attic noise. Inspection confirmed an exterior entry point at the roofline. Humane exclusion was installed, followed by permanent reinforcement once activity had ceased.
Background / Property Context
The property is a two-storey home with a steep roof pitch and finished soffit areas. Elevated rooflines and intersecting soffit sections created limited access points that required working-at-heights procedures during inspection and installation.
Customer Concern
The homeowner reported repeated noise in the attic during nighttime hours, raising concerns about wildlife entry and potential damage within the roof space.
Inspection & Findings
During the initial visit, our technician conducted a full exterior roofline inspection and attic check to assess for raccoon presence and the possibility of dependent young. No babies were found in the attic. Daylight was visible through a soffit gap at the front roof intersection, indicating an active entry point near a roof vent.

Cause Analysis
Raccoons commonly target roofline intersections and soffit-to-roof transitions, where materials can loosen over time. The elevated structure and sheltered roof geometry provided both access and protection, making the location suitable for repeated entry.
Treatment / Removal
On the first visit, Andrew installed a one-way wildlife exclusion door over the identified entry point. This allowed the raccoon to exit the attic space without re-entry. All work was completed humanely and without the use of traps or lethal methods.
Exclusion & Repairs
On the follow-up visit, after the homeowner reported no further activity, the one-way door was removed. The roof vent area was then permanently sealed using a galvanized steel wildlife cage to prevent future entry while maintaining proper ventilation.
Outcome & Confirmation
A final inspection confirmed that the exclusion was secure and no additional wildlife activity was present. The attic remained quiet following removal, and no further issues were reported after the second visit.
Technician Notes
- Visit 1: Exterior roof inspection completed; attic checked for dependent young with none found. Entry point identified at soffit intersection using visible daylight. One-way door installed successfully.
- Visit 2: No continued activity reported. One-way door removed and roof vent reinforced with galvanized steel cage. No limitations encountered during either visit.
