Job Overview
Location: Burlington, Ontario
Structure: Two story house with attached garage
Problem: Nocturnal attic activity consistent with raccoon presence
Service: Raccoon removal and roofline exclusion
Visits: 3
Summary
We completed a three-visit raccoon removal and exclusion service after attic activity was reported overnight. The work focused on identifying and securing a roofline entry point at a soffit intersection, installing a one-way door, and completing permanent exclusion using galvanized steel mesh and vent protection.
Background / Property Context
The property is a large bungalow with a raised basement. The roof design includes multiple soffit intersections and vents, which can present accessible entry points for raccoons. Work was completed in May under clear conditions with no weather limitations.
Customer Concern
The homeowner reported repeated nighttime noise coming from the attic space, raising concerns about wildlife presence and potential damage.
Inspection & Findings
During the initial inspection, our team checked the attic for the presence of raccoon young and assessed roofline conditions. No young were found. Light visible through a soffit intersection on the roof indicated a primary entry point near a roof vent. No additional active entry points were observed at that time.
Cause Analysis
Raccoons commonly access attics by exploiting weak points along rooflines, including soffit intersections and vent transitions. Intersecting roof angles can loosen over time, creating gaps large enough for entry. Elevated roof access and shelter availability make these areas attractive for denning.
Treatment / Removal
A one-way door was installed over the identified roof vent at the soffit intersection to allow the raccoon to exit without re-entry. Approximately one foot of the affected soffit intersection was initially sealed using galvanized steel mesh to stabilize the area while monitoring activity.

Exclusion & Repairs
On the follow-up visit, with no further activity reported, the one-way door was removed. The roof vent was permanently secured with a galvanized steel cage. During a subsequent visit, the homeowner approved additional preventative work, and an extra four feet of soffit intersection was sealed with galvanized steel mesh to reinforce the roofline and reduce future risk.
Outcome & Confirmation
After removal and exclusion were completed, no further attic activity was reported. All temporary devices were removed, permanent exclusions were inspected, and the roofline was confirmed secure at the final visit.
Technician Notes
The work was completed over three visits by our wildlife technician, Andrew. Access to the roofline was clear, and all identified entry points were addressed as planned. The customer expressed satisfaction with the outcome following the final exclusion work.
